Have you been told that low carb / high protein breakfast cereals make for a healthier breakfast than eggs? We beg to differ.
First, let’s talk about a popular processed cereals.
An alarming report from Stockholm University raised concern about processed carbohydrates.
The report found cancer-causing agents in a number of cooked foods. (1) And the FDA confirmed high levels of acrylamide in a wide range of foods after baking or frying.
Acrylamide is a white odourless compound that comes from cooking foods at high temperature. Foods such as potato chips, French fries, bread, rice and cereals. (2)
The EPA classifies acrylamide as a probable cancer-causing chemical with no safe dose.
It causes gene mutations leading to a range of cancers in rats, including breast and uterine cancers among others.
Finally – Sugar is the essence of life for cancer cells. Sugar doesn’t cause cancer, but if your body has cancer cells growing in it the sugar from processed foods feeds it like nothing else. Sugar is not your friend!
An alarming report from Stockholm University raised concern about processed carbohydrates.
You can digest the protein from eggs better than meat, fish, or any other food you eat, period.
There is a compound in eggs called phosphatidylcholine that helps to keep cholesterol soluble in your blood and keeps you from absorbing too much.
So, eggs are playing that role of keeping your cholesterol healthy.
A study out of Harvard followed 118,000 men and women for 14 years.
The study found “no evidence of an overall significant association between egg consumption and risk of coronary heart disease or stroke in either men or women.” (3)
Eggs also contain all the amino acids you need and many vitamins and minerals.
There’s vitamin A, riboflavin (vitamin B2), folic acid (vitamin B9), vitamin B6, vitamin B12, choline, iron, calcium, phosphorous, potassium, and more.
